In Salamis, various Cultural and Historical Events take place throughout the year.
Especially in the summer months, the island of Salamis has many religious holidays where trade fairs are held, but mainly in the month of September which is the month of celebration of the "Salaminians" and events are held in memory of the Battle of Salamis.
CARNIVAL: Carnival in Salamis is a special time as there are many customs and traditions that are observed every year. From the traditional dishes prepared by the housewives and especially the Pupeki (milk pie), from the festive events held every year by the Municipality of Salamina and other local bodies and of course, from the parade that takes place in the center of the city.
March 25th: Our national holiday is traditionally celebrated on the island with the big parade, on the day of the anniversary, on the beach of the island with all the schools and also the security forces parading to the sounds of the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Salamina.
July – August: Every year various events, performances and concerts are planned in the impressive Euripideon Theater located on Patris Hill and also in the Stone Theater of Selenium located in Selenia.
July 17th: Agia Marina is celebrated in the I.N. Agia Marina in the area of Aiantei.
July 20th: Prophet Elias is celebrated in I.N. Prophet Elias in Salamis (trade fair). The Holy Temple is built on the mountain above the City of Salamis and is visible from most parts of the city.
August 6th: The Transfiguration of the Savior in I.N. is celebrated. Transfiguration of Sotiros in the area of Aiantei (market fair).
August 15th: The Dormition of the Virgin Mary is celebrated in I.N. Dormition of the Virgin in the area of Kamateros (image tour).
August 23th: The Dormition of the Virgin is celebrated in I.M. Faneromenis in the area of Faneromenis Salamina (market fair).
September: September is dedicated entirely to the Naval Battle of Salamis and there are events throughout the month for "Salaminia" with Concerts, Lectures by distinguished scientists, various other events and the climax of the events takes place on 09/29 in the area of the Tomb of the Salamis and of Kamateros with a grand Closing Ceremony of the celebrations.
October 26th: Saint Demetrius is celebrated in I.N. Agios Dimitrios in the Center of Salamina. In this particular I.N. the tomb of Karaiskakis is also located and this particular day is especially honored.
October 28th: Our national holiday is traditionally celebrated on the island with the big parade, on the day of the anniversary, on the beach of the island with all the schools and also the security forces parading to the sounds of the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Salamina.
November 11th: Agios Minas is celebrated in I.N. Agios Minas in the Center of Salamina. Agios Minas is the patron saint of Salamis and the celebrations are brilliant.
November 30th: Saint Andrew is celebrated in I.N. Agios Andreas in the center of Salamina.
