Dear guests,
We welcome you to the website that highlights the touristic interests of the Municipality of Salamina. Salamina is the largest island of the Saronic Gulf and the closest to the shores of Attica. It is located in the Northern Section of the Saronic Gulf and is separated from the coast of Attica by the Strait of Pachi (Northwest) and the Strait of Piraeus (East). These two channels delimit the bay of Eleusis which extends north of Salamis and give access to the island from two sides. Especially from the port of Perama - Palukia, access to the island is 24 hours. The length of the coast of Salamina is 100 kilometers, while the area of the island reaches 93.5 km². The highest peak is Mavrovuni (365 meters) and two pine forests, that of Faneromeni and that of Kanakia, are considered among the largest green lungs of Attica. Salamina enjoys a great tourist appeal as, in addition to the diverse beaches it has, it has many points of significant historical interest, it is aimed at visitors of religious tourism and finally it has been a pole of attraction in recent years for sporting events of international impact. I wish you a good tour and we will be happy to host you on our island! The Mayor Panagopoulos George |
